The 1st Philippine Culinary Cup
For 4 days an international team of World Association of Chef Societies (WACS) approved judges including HK Disney Chef Rudy Muller SIngapore National Team Captain Yen Koh Meat and Livestock Australian Chef Alan Palmer among others led by Pastry Alliance of the Philippines' James Antolin tirelessly tasted and shared culinary advise with over 300 of the Philippines' best chefs at the 1st Philippine Culinary Cup at SMX.
The 10 stainless steel Toastmaster professional kitchens provided by Middleby served as the stage for where the best met to compete and cook for the best chefs of Asia and Europe.
In the end the Lyceum of the Philippines' Chris Agra Milton Nunga and John Lyle Asprer brought home the trophy and P15000 cash prize for scoring the highest gold for the Filipino Cuisine Challenge with their menu of Kinilaw na Tuna Maranao Piyaren a Manok Tortang Talong Sinangag sa Bawang at Bagong Isda. Golds were also awarded to AICA and Diamond Hotel for their Filipino menus.
Singapore Pastry Alliance Chef Kenny Kong led the pastry judging team to award the best Pastry Showpiece to Chef Benjie Lamas of theWaterfront Hotel Cebu.
Sonny Jason Mariano of CCA won Gold for the Pasta Competition while Shiva Kumar Perimal from AHA won Gold too for the Local Fish and Seafood competition. Vicente Cahatol of the New World Hotel brought home the Gold for the Best Ice Carving.
