October 5, 2024 – LTB partnered with KAWA Pilipinas to provide aid to 3,332 members of the indigent communities in Manila, individuals deprived of liberty in various correctional facilities, and those who have found shelter at the Missionaries of the Poor.
This collaboration started months ago when Chef Jerome Valencia and Chef J.A. Ventura visited KAWA's previous kitchen in Pasay.
Members of the Philippine Young Chefs Club joined us to produce the meals. The team included Chef Jerome Valencia, Chef JA Ventura, Chef Fernando Aracama, Chef J Gamboa, Chef Margarita Marty, Chef Cherrie Uy-Tan, Chef Rommel Hinlo, Chef Ramona Olga Ko, Chef Daryl Yulo Sy, Honey Faye Irada, and Jeanine De Jesus worked efficiently under Chef Angelo Guison’s direction.
Special thanks to Alternatives Food Corp for donating 300kg of filleted chicken thighs, and to Sysu International for donating soy sauce, peppercorns, bay leaves, and salt. And to Chef Cherrie Uy-Tan for the vinegar.
Members from LTB and PYCC split into three groups to personally deliver meals to those in need. We were also able to share 150 food packs with political prisoners in Taguig, along with additional distributions to urban poor communities and fire survivors.
This event highlighted the strength of our partnership with KAWA Pilipinas and the impact we can make together. Chef Fern emphasized the importance of maintaining our collaboration, underlining the value of our work.
Thank you to everyone involved for your support and dedication. We look forward to continuing our partnership with KAWA Pilipinas and seeing you all in their kitchen soon!
