August 2, 2023 - Amidst Typhoon Falcon, LTB Philippines Chefs Association members joined forces with student and faculty volunteers from De La Salle College of Saint Benilde and the Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila for a day of meaningful service at a covered court in a bustling corner of Baseco Port Area in Manila City. They were also joined by visiting chef delegates from Worldchefs Without Borders accompanied by Worldchefs Continental Director for Asia, Chef Willment Leong, and Worldchefs Assistant Vice President, Chef KK Yau.
Thanks to the generous contributions of our members, friends, and sponsors, this outreach effort was able to provide essential relief to over 400 families. Each family received a food pack consisting of a kilogram of uncooked rice and a selection of fresh vegetables, thoughtfully sourced from Tanging Yaman Farmers. In addition to these staples, families also received containers of delectable chicken adobo, prepared by culinary students from CSB and LPU. The event was further enriched with products generously provided by Clara Ole, Lee Kum Kee, and Alaska.
Beyond the immediate assistance to Baseco residents, this outreach had a dual purpose. It also aimed to bolster the livelihoods of co-op farmers associated with the Tanging Yaman Foundation. By purchasing their freshly harvested rice and seasonal produce, we contributed to the sustainability of local agriculture.

The LTB Community Outreach at Baseco not only delivered much-needed aid but also delivered a powerful message of hope and support to marginalized communities. It served as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, they are not forgotten. Furthermore, the event exemplified the transformative potential of collective action and compassion. It demonstrated how positive change can be achieved when individuals and organizations unite for a shared purpose.
