In October 2019, a series of magnitude 7 earthquakes hit the province of Cotabato in Mindanao.
Thousands lost their homes to tension cracks and landslides. Their homes being declared inhabitable, locals fled to evacuation centers while the local government unit plans to relocate them to safer areas for the next months.
LTB member and chef proprietor of Boyd’s Pizza House in Kidapawan, Chef Ritche Mearns, has taken the initiative of establishing a weekly operational soup kitchen to help feed the evacuees in various evacuation centers.
With the assistance from LTB Philippines Chefs Association, Chef Ritche has provided wholesome meals to over 2,500 evacuees.
Chef Ritche and his team of volunteers continue to provide meals to evacuees in different locations in Kidapawan today.
